Our neighborhood is a great, interactive place to live because of our neighbors.

Each month, one NEPNA household will be highlighted so you'll recognize another NEPNA
neighbor while fishing at one of our waterfront parks, riding bikes along our livable streets to a
game at Northeast Little League, or visiting one of our neighborhood businesses. Any household
can be highlighted – just let us know if you'd like to be next and we'll take care of the rest.

The Norris-Jalbert Family

Some are able to operate best when they have clear visions of how they would like to see the world around them. There is a known starting point: where you are now -- and then the ideal: how you would like things to be. Most of the time, the path from the starting point to the ideal requires various degrees of sacrifice and time (and sometimes luck). When the ideal involves a group of people, it's fulfilling to play even a small role to bring about the positive change you envision.

Chad Norris and Christine Jalbert envision Northeast Park becoming a more social community. They believe that a community that brings people together is a safer, more enjoyable place to call home. So when the idea was proposed for NEPNA to host a party celebrating the end of the school year and beginning of summer, they stood up and played a key role in bringing nearly 500 of our neighbors together for the inaugural Dog Days of Summer Party at Crisp Park. Chad coordinated and supplied over 50 yard signs and hundreds of color fliers advertising the party (but wait, there's more …), then he manned the JOIN NEPNA! table at the party (complete with reusable color banners he supplied) where he helped sign up enough new NEPNA members and collect enough donations to essentially pay for the entire party. Wow! (Check out the photograph to the left of Chad working his magic).

The starting point to ideal concept is repeated several times over with the Norris-Jalbert family.

Christine practiced law at her own firm, then became disillusioned with law and is now studying to practice holistic body, mind, and spirit healing. Chad is the majority owner of United Fire Protection (www.united-fire.com) providing fire protection systems for large commercial customers. Non-work fun includes boating to a nearby sandbar with their three children - Anevey, Dakota, and Eva - and enjoying downtown St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach.
Chad and Christine's house on Placido Way had a definite starting point as a two bedroom house on the water. The path from the starting point to their vision has taken a lot of sacrifice, but once their full vision of how they see their future house is implemented (currently on phase two of three), they will have added over 2,000 square feet, a new garage, kitchen, bedrooms, foyer... and completely transformed their corner of Northeast Park.

Chad has proposed a NEPNA Leadership position that coordinates membership and envisions a fall pot-luck party or cooking competition. Christine envisions new features for Crisp Park and more events for the neighborhood children. With their track record, it's likely that they'll play a role in implementing these ideas and helping to make our neighborhood an even better place to live. Make sure to introduce yourself to the Norris-Jalbert family at our next NEPNA Monthly Meeting or social event and thank them for being part of the positive change happening in Northeast Park.
