Sounds at Home – NEPNA March Business

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

The March NEPNA Neighborhood Business of the Month is Sounds at Home.

Sounds At Home is an Audio/Video company that sells and installs home entertainment systems including: Home Theater systems, Media room packages, whole house music and video solutions and lighting control. All the entertainment systems are custom designed to fit the individual’s needs and lifestyles.

When Sound Advice went out of business, there were few choices left in the Tampa Bay market where a consumer could purchase electronics for their home, cars or boats and still receive high quality installation and service. Sounds at Home was created to fill that void. Dave Dufresne (a NEPNA Neighbor) and several other long time Sound Advice employees created the company for consumers that want knowledgeable sales people, expert installation, and high quality audio and video products at a fair price. All the products are properly set up and adjusted to achieve their maximum potential.

Her’s a summary of what Sounds at Home offers:

  • A combined experience of over 100 years in the industry with 50 years in installation alone.
  • Sales of most major brands in home/mobile electronics and speakers.
  • Full installation services for your home, car and boat including one-touch remote programming.
  • Free in-home consultation so they can custom design a system for you.
  • Audio and video calibration to ensure your equipment can perform at their best.
  • A person to call when you have questions or problems.

Check out the Sounds at Home website (LINK) or give them a call at 727-667-5114 to get started.

Interior Motives – November NEPNA Business

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Picture 2The November NEPNA Neighborhood Business of the Month is one of our city’s unique art galleries: Interior Motives.

Whether it’s her efforts working with local residents to develop an ‘art colony’ along the 600 block of Central Avenue, her selfless service on multiple arts boards, or her donation of time and supplies to run the arts booth at our Dog Days of Summer party, Leslie Curran has become well known as one of the staunchest advocates of the arts scene in St. Petersburg. So what does someone that dedicates so much of her free-time to the arts scene do for work? Well .. she owns an art gallery. Of course!

Interior Motives is a unique gallery filled with original art by nationally known artists and our own favorite local artists, as well as unique home accessories.  For over 25 years, Leslie has been providing custom frame design services in the area for both residential and corporate clients. She is also part of the Downtown Arts Association “Gallery Walk” that takes place on the second Saturday of the month from 6:00pm-9:00pm – featuring refreshments, music, and great art! (More information about the Downtown Arts Association here.)

Interior Motives is open Monday through Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm; Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm; Sunday by appointment. Stop in to browse for that unique slice of art for the upcoming holiday season. And if you mention that you’re a NEPNA Neighbor, you’ll get 20% off custom framing.

Bowled Restaurant – August NEPNA Business

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Bowled

The August NEPNA Neighborhood Business of the Month is one of our independently owned eateries: Bowled Restaurant

Not only is Bowled Restaurant receiving rave acclaim from our neighbors (Lunch, Dinner, Saturday and Sunday Brunch), it is also garnering regional recognition as being one of the best casual restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. This is no surprise to anyone that has been to Bowled – it’s really one of those restaurants where you could close your eyes and point to anything on the menu, and end up being blown away by your random choice (I’ve done this). But don’t take my word for it, check out the reviews from our local media outlets:

  • The St. Petersburg Times named Bowled the #1 Best Comfort Food in their list of 100 Best of Tampa Bay Restaurants;
  • A separate review by the St. Petersburg Times further praises the value and outstanding-ness (is that a word? even if it’s not, it applies here.)
  • The Creative Loafing review will more than whet your appetite.

The Bowled website (Link) provides links to interviews and other reviews. Suffice it to say that our neighborhood restaurant’s outstanding-ness is not a secret. Owner Michael Cecere and Lesa Gigante are true friends of NEPNA. We all can walk, ride bikes, or take a nice ride to Bowled (3451 4th Street North). But wait there’s more …

NEPNA Special

Sunday nights in August have officially been declared NEPNA Family Nights at Bowled Restaurant! NEPNA Neighbors will receive an email coupon for $5 off of $25 or more, or $10 off of $50 or more on any Sunday night in August. Nice!

Get Nailed – July NEPNA Business

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

picture-2Each month, NEPNA Leadership profiles one of our neighborhood businesses. For July, it’s our neighborhood nail salon – Get Nailed.

It is rare these days to find a local, independently owned business that has been operating for 28 years.  In order to achieve this feat, a business must have a compassionate owner, talented and dedicated staff, and a loyal customer base.  Get Nailed, St. Petersburg’s finest nail salon, has done just this.

Having made it’s home in Northeast Park for the past 25 years, owner Margaret Bailey and her staff have made Get Nailed the go to place for hygienic, stylish, and long lasting manicures and pedicures.  Whether you are in the market for a new set of sculptured nails (natural looking, longer lasting, and thinner than tips), a relaxing pedicure using the latest OPI color (it is sandal season after all…), or want to treat that special someone in your life with a gift certificate (hint, hint), Get Nailed offers it all.

Check out Get Nailed’s new website (www.getnailedstpete.com), call (727.825.0021), or stop by (3185 4th Street North) to say hi to Margaret and her staff and get additional information on services they provide as well as coupons for your next appointment!

Bright Bay Builders – May NEPNA Business

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

bright-bay

Each month, NEPNA Leadership profiles one of our neighborhood businesses. For May, it’s: Bright Bay Builders

There is no hesitation in noting that one of the most distinctive new construction and custom renovation companies in St. Petersburg is Bright Bay Builders. Walk or ride bikes around Northeast Park, Old Northeast, or Snell Isle and you will see evidence of Bright Bay’s high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Take some time to browse the Bright Bay website (www.brightbay.com) and read about Paul Haggar and the Bright Bay staff, read the client testimonials, scroll through the photo gallery, and start thinking about your next home construction or renovation.

The Northeast Park neighborhood is proud to have such a distinctive home builder in our neighborhood (Bright Bay renovated the building on the north corner of 43rd Avenue and 1st Street and converted the space to their office). It has been enjoyable watching so many Bright Bay projects being constructed in the neighborhood and surrounding areas, and we look forward to many more to come.

Tour de Pizza – NEPNA Business of the Month

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Tour de Pizza

Each month, NEPNA Leadership will profile one of our neighborhood businesses. First up: Tour de Pizza

Our neighborhood pizza shop is located in the Northeast Shopping Center near Publix. Owner Matt McClellan has been serving up some of the best pizza in the Tampa Bay area for just over one year. The St. Petersburg Times recently included Tour de Pizza as one of the top unsung pizza shops in the Tampa Bay area. (Check out the story here.

If you’ve been to Tour de Pizza, you already know that the pizza, salads, and everything else are phenomenal. If you have not been, stop by next time you are at Northeast Shopping Center (I personally suggest the MAClellan pizza) and say hello to Matt and thank him for supporting NEPNA, all his local charity work, and for being such a great neighborhood business.
